Two down, how many to go?

Storm Front - Jim Butcher Fool Moon - Jim Butcher

Alright! That's one Butcher listened and one Butcher read, I'm getting the hang of this series. Whoot! I don't think I did a review of Storm Front (The Dresden Files, Book 1) - Jim Butcher  (goes to check...nope), but since I just ticked the "Read" box and this popped up I guess I'll do this a little out of order and start my Harry Dresden reviews with book 2 Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, Book 2) - Jim Butcher but this will probably serve as my Storm Front (The Dresden Files, Book 1) - Jim Butcher  review also, 'cause that's how I roll.

And, away we go...

I had debated, waited, picked up, put down (metaphorically speaking as in this case I was using my Kindle), polled (thanks ever so fellow BLers!) and pondered these books and a few weeks ago I pulled the trigger and decided to give these a try.

Based on the recommendation of several of my Booklikes friends, I decided to start my adventure into the world of Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden through the audiobook read by none other than James Marsters (how freakin' perfect is that action, btw?). it was a great way for me to get into the series. James Marsters does a fantastic job, the story is quick, action is interesting, the characters are intriguing and it's a great set up for the rest of the series it seems.

I'd say that Storm Front was a little predictable (I figured out the "bad guy" from the get go), but that didn't really bother me, honestly. I think since I was more interested in how this world was set up, the construct of the magic and fantasy elements, and who these characters are that I was ok with the fact I figured out the "big twist" from pretty early on. From what I understand from others, as the series progresses it gets less predictable and becomes more focused on the over arching story, the bigger picture, I'm willing to stick around to see how that goes.

For book 2,   Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, Book 2) - Jim Butcher things get a little more complicated, we delve deeper into the Nevernever, and we get our first real peak into the larger arc that, I'd guess, is going to take a larger role moving forward. Think of it like moving away from the monster-of-the-week model to a bigger, more complicated story. From the little peak we got here in Fool Moon, I'm really curious about Harry's story, history and family and I'm looking forward to learning more. When I did my poll here asking if I should start this series, lots of folks indicated that the series really gets cooking around book 3, so I'm excited to see where this goes.

Seriously, so curious about his parents and what the deal is with that. What happened with Harry and his mentor and ex-girlfriend who's still alive?

(show spoiler)

Let the games begin!
